Hello Freshmen:
Your first year of high school may be daunting but please remember we are all here to help you. In your first year, you are to take Living Environment (biology). This course will be made up of 2 semesters, each semester having 3 marking periods. Living Environment is a mandatory class for all NYC students and following the class is a REGENTS STATE EXAM. This class is a two-fold class meaning there are classes and labs. Labs must be completed in order to have a seat for the REGENTS.

For many of you, this is your second or third time having me as a teacher. As you all know, I am very strict and expect nothing but the best you can offer. I will push you very hard and assignments may not always be easy so make sure you keep up and if you are confused, you should see me immediately.

Chemistry is an entire year course, made up of 2 semesters and each semester has 3 marking periods. Chemistry is like Living Environment, in which the class and lab portion are shown as separate courses on your schedule. APES, however, is just one class with lab engrained in the class itself. As upper classmen, your assignments will be harder than before and the culminating task bundles will be extensive projects stretching throughout the semester. Please do not wait till the last minute to start working on your project as it is lengthy.
